Internet Marketing 101

by Guy Mendelson

Internet marketing can be described as marketing activities on the internet. These include banner ads, SEO, affiliate marketing, lead generation, email marketing, forum marketing, text ads, and more.

Internet marketing also includes market analyses, benchmarking, performance measurement and customer relationship management.

There has been a lot written about Internet marketing. Often times, it's almost like dieting. What's new and what's exciting may be what a person tries next. So have you ever wondered why one person can be successful with Internet marketing and another won't be.

Think about this, what if I was to give you a book on putting written by Tiger Woods. If after you read that book you think you'd be able to go out and be as good of a putter as Tiger Woods is?

The answer is no and it's this way with Internet marketing as well. There is so many variables that go into the things we mentioned to describe what Internet marketing is. This is really what allows one person to be successful and another to fail.

Internet marketing is all about skills and applying those skills to create income on the Internet. When we talk about search engine optimization were talking about a topic that many people will never ever master. Yet that same person may be able to become a huge success on the Internet and email marketing.

This is what really gives hope to the average person. Anyone can make money on the Internet doing Internet marketing, if they just take the time to master a least one of the skills that it takes to be successful online.

Doesn't matter what one? It really does not except that it becomes one that you enjoy because you are going to do it on a regular basis. Let's say you want to join an affiliate marketing program become the top affiliate in that program.

What you have to do is become an expert in not only affiliate marketing, but also on other things such as promoting on the Internet, tracking your advertising, and various other things that go with affiliate marketing.

There are people who do nothing other than promote an Internet business using traffic exchanges. Yet those people become very successful, because they became some of the top Internet marketers using traffic exchanges. I would venture to say that their success ties back to the fact that they enjoy marketing online using traffic exchanges.

So in conclusion, Internet marketing will mean different things to various people. Your success will come down to whether you can develop skills, and then used those to make money on the Internet.
